Sawan Khalok: My Home for 4 Months!

This place was paradise!  Just look and see:

I used to go for rides on my bike in the evenings and take pictures of the fields.

 My street.

A rainy evening in the night market!

The local museum...actually had some interesting displays.  It even makes in into the Thailand LP.

That is a bird's nest in the middle of the bunch of bananas!

Let's Try This Again

So there has been an almost 2 year hiatus from the last time I posted pictures on a blog, but that is because China had issues with giving access to the blog, which made posting awfully diffucult. Now Facebook has decided that they do not want to let me post photos anymore (not sure why, just can't seem to upload) so here we go again. Blog it is!

I am starting off where the facebook photos end, as updating from my last post would take a year or so, and even with all the free time that I have here, I don't have that much time!

So, 3 weekends ago I had just rented my new motorbike and I decided to test it out by taking a trip to Si Satchanali which is an area of ruins about 30 km north of where I live. It is much less restored in comparison with the historical park in Sukhothai, which makes it quite interesting to see. I was there in weather that was not great, but I still really enjoyed it.

The first ruins I came to were outside the park, but weres still quite large.

After entering the park the first thing I noticed was the absolutely insane number of birds on one set of trees. I mean, you could not hear anything other than birds. There must have been several hundreds of them. I went and climbed the hill near the birds to get a look from the top. The ruins at the top of the hill were quite nice, but the birds were still what I was most impressed with. There were some Thai boys there trying to ask me questions, but I could barely hear them over all the squaking. In behind the main ruins at the top of the hill was another smaller site, that had a little building with an spot for a buddha. I tried to take a picture and a wierd white cloud appeared in the picture. I tried again and it happended again. I looked at the screen and moved the camera around. It the white cloud only appeared in that one spot. hmmmm...I said a quick thank you to Buddha before leaving that spot.

By the time I had walked up to the top of the hill in the crazy humidity and heat I was good and sweaty and happy to see that the other ruins were more on flat ground. I decided to actually follow the arrows that were spray painted on the ground, and see if that is the best route to take. Still not really sure, but it did work.
